In 1983, Wisconsin dairy producers voted to
create the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board
(WMMB), a non-profit promotion organization
funded solely by state dairy producers. The
primary goal of WMMB is to increase the
demand for Wisconsin milk and dairy products.
However, the board plays several other key
roles within Wisconsin's dairy industry.
For example, WMMB works with industry
partners to establish new markets, develop
new dairy and cheese products, and educate
consumers about the quality and importance
of Wisconsin milk, cheese and other dairy products. WMMB also
works to communicate the tremendous economic impact that our
dairy business has on the local and state economy.
A major focus of WMMB is its involvement in state and national promotional programs targeting the foodservice and retail market segments. Since nine out of 10 pounds of milk produced in the state are used to produce the more than 600 varieties, types and styles of award-winning Wisconsin cheeses, WMMB conducts promotions in all 50 states.
